Whipsnade Zoo

A scene at Whipsnade Zoo taken in 1937, when elephant rides were one of the most popular attractions. The zoo's art deco elephant house, now a Grade II protected building, can be seen in the background. It was designed in 1932 by Bertholdt Lubetkin (Tecton) who had earlier designed the gorilla house at London Zoo.
